- Farmers do not apply to the state for Clean Water Indiana. The state grant goes to Soil and Water Conservation Districts and conservation groups (the 2027 round closed September 3, 2026; the State Soil Conservation Board votes on awards October 20, 2026). Districts that win CWI projects offer cost-share to landowners, up to 75% of practice cost with the landowner paying at least 25%, so ask your county SWCD whether it has a CWI-funded signup.
