Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026

Introduction

Soil Health Exchange ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website soilhealthexchange.com and use our services.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you submit a question or use our contact form, we collect:

  • Contact Information: Name and email address
  • Location: State or region (for agronomic context)
  • Farm Data: Acreage, soil type, crops, and management practices
  • Question Details: Description of your soil health challenge
  • Attachments: Photos or documents you choose to upload
  • Assessment History: Soil-assessment inputs and results may be stored under a pseudonymous browser identifier so you can choose to connect them to My Farm later; they are not included in public benchmarks unless you separately consent

Newsletter Subscriptions

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, where requested, your self-identified primary role. We use the role to understand who the newsletter serves and improve its relevance for farmers, advisors, researchers, and other readers.

My Farm and Farm Memory

If you choose to start My Farm, we connect the plans, assessments, questions, answers, saved resources, funding interests, and private notes associated with your account. We may derive a summary of farm context—such as state, crops, goals, and management practices—from information you provided so the service can organize your records and improve relevance. My Farm is optional.

Account Sign-In

You can access a SHE account with a one-time email link or, when available, Google sign-in. If you choose Google, we receive your verified email address, Google account identifier, and the basic name you permit Google to share. We use this information only to create or reconnect your SHE account and prevent duplicate Farm Memories. Creating an account does not automatically start a My Farm membership.

Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect certain information when you visit our site, including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This helps us improve our website.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your agronomic questions with personalized recommendations
  • To publish anonymized Q&A content in our Field Answers (see below)
  • To send newsletters if you've subscribed
  • To understand the professional audiences using our newsletter and improve its relevance
  • To improve our website and services
  • To communicate with you about your submissions
  • To organize and personalize your private Farm Memory when you choose to start My Farm

Published Content & Privacy

🔒 Your Privacy is Protected

When we publish answers to the Field Answers:

  • Your name is never published — answers appear anonymously
  • Your email is never shared — used only for direct communication
  • Private uploaded files are never published — used only for analysis
  • Optional field photos are published only with your consent — otherwise they stay out of public content
  • Only agronomic content (challenge description, recommendations) is shared

Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information. Our website uses HTTPS encryption, and data is stored securely through our content management system (Sanity.io).
