Per-acre practice incentives averaging approximately $60 per acre, dependent on crop and practice (posted rates: conservation crop rotation $38/ac, interseeding $60/ac, no-till $60/ac, biochar from $205/ac, compost from $225/ac, cover crop $74/ac, reduced tillage $40/ac, prescribed grazing $1/animal-day, nutrient management compost/manure $60/ac, N reduction $55/ac) • Soil carbon amendments paid on tiered scales: biochar $205-$1,435/acre, compost $225-$435/acre. Optional marketing stipend up to $7,500 per year. Over $38 million in direct incentives across the life of the project.

Deadline & timing: Program reinstated by USDA in April 2026 under the Advancing Markets for Producers initiative. Home page: 'Applications will open soon — check back for details'; producers will be notified by email. Per the official FAQ, the team is first re-enrolling producers who held contracts or reached Phase 2, then prior Phase 1 applicants, during summer 2026, with new practice implementation beginning fall 2026. Newly interested producers should email iamp@uidaho.edu to join the mailing list; U of I will not know until May 2027 whether the project can open to new producers. All participants must sign a new contract and complete a CPA-52 environmental evaluation.
Eligibility: Works with up to 200 producers; producers located anywhere in Idaho. Prior contract holders and Phase 1/Phase 2 applicants are being re-enrolled first; new producers cannot enroll until at least May 2027, if at all. Producers receiving another federal payment for the same practice on the same acreage at the same time are ineligible for that practice. CPA-52 environmental evaluation required before contracting. Optional marketing stipend with no requirement to sell through a particular channel.
