What you can get
Up to $10,000 • Direct grants to individual farms for new or expanded agricultural ventures - new farm directions, technology adoption, and projects that strengthen farm resilience and efficiency. Applicants must contact their county Extension Agent by December 1 to discuss the proposal before submitting.

- producer, North Carolina family farms in 46 eligible counties whose farm has been revenue generating for at least one year (local non profit community organizations are also eligible); priority goes to current or former tobacco growers, quota holders, tobacco workers and close family descendants, farms that have not received previous grants, and applicants earning at least 50% of gross personal income from the farm operation.

- Due December 15, 2026. NEAR-TERM: the application window OPENS October 15, 2026 - inside the Aug 18 - Oct 17 flag window - and closes December 15, 2026 at 6 p.m., OR when 200 applications have been received, whichever comes first. Because of the 200-application cap, farmers should apply as soon as the window opens rather than waiting for the December date.
