- Family farm businesses in Western North Carolina, for projects that increase efficiency, diversify income, improve profitability and support long-term sustainability. A conversation with the county Cooperative Extension agriculture agent is required before applying (by October 9, 2026). Only one application per farm will be accepted; late or incomplete applications are not accepted. Eligible county list is not stated on the pages reviewed; past recipients came from mountain counties such as Buncombe, Burke, Cleveland, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, Watauga; confirm with local Extension.
