Official page: 2027 enrollment window Aug. 24, 2026-April 30, 2027 (Application Deadline: 04/30/2027), or until the program's allotted acres are filled; PFI says to enroll ASAP as it may close early. Wrap-up survey and documentation due Sept. 30, 2027. Payments processed by Dec. 31, 2027 after paperwork is received and confirmed.
- Eligibility
- Nitrogen scenario: reduce usual corn-soybean N rate by 40 lb/acre or apply no more than 100 lb N/acre on 2027 corn following small grain plus cover crop or leguminous hay (agronomist call required by May 28, 2027). Small grain cover crop must contain at least one legume; soybeans do not count, and double-/relay-cropped soybeans are ineligible. Conventional and organic-transition acres are eligible; certified-organic acres are ineligible. No PFI membership required; no acre cap. Acres may stack with public programs (EQIP, CSP) but not with PFI fall cover crop cost-share (2026 or 2027), the 2027 N Rate Risk Protection Program, or privately funded cost-share/carbon programs. Requirements include signing the agreement within 30 days, attending a learning event in 2027, and submitting documentation and wrap-up survey by Sept. 30, 2027. Only select counties outside Iowa are eligible (county list linked on page).
