NOFA Vermont (Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont)

Funding: $2,500 - $5,000 • Non-repayable grants: up to $2,500 for NOFA-VT member farms; up to $5,000 for VOF certified organic farms (one-year membership waiting period waived). Covers crop failure, flooding, fire, barn collapse, milk price drops; funds may be used for infrastructure replacement, seed, feed, and immediate farm bills.
Who it is for: producer, Vermont commercial farmers who have been NOFA VT members in good standing for at least one year, or any farm certified organic by Vermont Organic Farmers (VOF), who have suffered a disaster related loss.

Vermont Farm Fund Emergency Loan

Vermont Farm Fund / Center for an Agricultural Economy

Funding: Up to $15,000, 0% interest • Zero-interest revolving loan repayable over 36-48 months with a flexible payment schedule and an option to defer payments up to 12 months. Cap was raised from $10,000 to $15,000 after the 2023 floods. Cash shortfalls from equipment failure, business miscalculation, or unrelated cash-flow problems are not eligible. The Fund also runs Business Builder Loans and New Producer Loans for non-disaster needs.
Who it is for: producer, Vermont farmers and food producers who have suffered a devastating loss from an unexpected natural disaster (fire, flood, wind, drought, hail) damaging buildings, animals, equipment, greenhouses, or hay fields, and whose business is otherwise in good financial health.

For Farmers Grant (Foundational, Land Stewardship & Transformational)

For Farmers Movement

Funding: $500 - $10,000 • Three tiers: Foundational Grants of $500-$1,000 for infrastructure, equipment, supplies, innovation, or making up for a loss (a minimum of 100 awarded); one Land Stewardship Grant of $5,000 for a farm committed to caring for the land in ways that strengthen soil, protect natural resources, and support long-term farm and ecosystem health; and at least one Transformational Grant of $10,000 for a farm project with profound impact on farm operations and community. All tiers use the same application, and applicants for the Land Stewardship and Transformational grants must also apply for a Foundational grant.
Who it is for: producer, Commercial farmers located in the 50 US states, Washington DC, or US territories whose operation sells most of its products; homesteads and animal sanctuaries are excluded, and past For Farmers grant recipients may reapply alone or with up to two partner farms.
